The 210 powder coat colors below will create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint. RAL colors are used for varnish and powder coating, where RAL stands for Reichs-Ausschuß für Lieferbedingungen und Gütesicherung. That’s the German Imperial Commission for Delivery Terms and Quality Assurance that invented the standard back in 1927 with 40 colors. Today there are 210 RAL powder coat colors.
Powdercoating Colors Grouped into RAL Hues
Powdercoating colors are not going to really render that differently on different materials because it’s a thick covering.
Technically, you could group the RAL hues into nine groups:
- Yellows – 1000 series of digits
- Oranges – 2000 series of digits
- Reds – 3000 series of digits
- Violets – 4000 series of digits
- Blues – 5000 series of digits
- Greens – 6000 series of digits
- Grays – 7000 series of digits
- Browns – 8000 series of digits
- Whites & Blacks – 9000 series of digits
